Response: The man had a bible in his hand. So why did he make me feel so uncomfortable?

This morning, I woke up and the first thing in my feed was a post someone had shared by Andy Youso entitled, “The man had a bible in his hand, so why did he make me feel so uncomfortable?” Typically I ignore these types of posts, but this one caught my attention because I know of, and pray for, the man in the picture used at the top of Andy’s post. When I read the blog post I found myself interpreting “uncomfortable” as scared (admittedly that might not be right but how it seemed) I have had conversations with this man (the one pictured) online when he’s been discouraged in his work for the Gospel. I, too, have at times considered him a little rough, but never to a point that I thought someone might be afraid of him. I’ve watched him, through video and Facebook posts, grow in his own walk as has continued to faithfully serve Christ over the years.

Reponse: Thai surrogate says unaware twin had Down until late in pregnancy

A great deal of emotion was stirred in me as I read an article at MSN talking about a Thai Surrogate that kept a child with a disability despite being asked to abort it. As a father of a child born with Down Syndrome I can tell you, it can be rough! But I can tell you something else as well. That tough child is a child, a human child, and he has all the same needs for love and acceptance that any “normal” child has. He is quite capable of feeling emotion, and desperately needs the type of affection that speaks to him.

Response: TODD’S AMERICAN DISPATCH: Christian bakery closes after LGBT threats, protests

I can honestly say I saw this coming. I predicted that when we started legalizing same sex unions it would run down this path. I had debate after debate with those who said it wouldn’t. I showed research where it had done so in other countries which had legalized same sex unions. Person after person claimed, “It’s not the place of the state to decide who can and can’t spend their life together. It’s about love!”

Miley and Robin Are Not the Only Villans

Everyone is talking about the Miley Cyrus performance and while it isn’t a shock that people are in fact talking about it, what is and isn’t being said, is what is surprising to me. Many people are appalled about the performance. I was truly, and pleasantly surprised to find a whole host of comments condemning the absolute stupidity of what was displayed for young people who have followed this gal for years on Disney. Without question there are far more people who were let down by the actions of this rising star than I thought might be.

Response: California Transgender-Student Bill

If the transgender-student bill wasn’t so disgustingly in violation of the rights of straight people this might be funny! I’m trying to figure out how many drugs a person has to take throughout their life to come up with the idea that this makes sense. So now, the little girl who already gets teased about certain parts developing early has to deal with the absolutely uncomfortable fact that while Johnny claims to be a girl he’s actually got a penis and likes to stare at Susie’s parts in the shower! Not to mention the effects this might have on elementary level kids.
